Camping and Me

Daily writing prompt
Have you ever been camping?

This prompt made me reflect and realise how I have never been camping in my life and how it always scares me.

Though when I look at how much others have fun going camping, I feel tempted to give it a try. What holds me back is my apprehension of managing the toilet and taking a shower!

I guess I am very few of those people who haven’t explored camping as an activity in all of my 43 years!

The night sky, wilderness, peace and quiet in the middle of nowhere, with just nature and your own thoughts to keep you company—these are some of the things that come to mind whenever I think about camping. At times, I am envious of those who share stories of the adventures and fun they have had.

I’m adding this to my bucket list for sure!

where is home?

What do I call home?

the place,
I was born and raised in
was my whole world of knowns and certainties
a cocoon of safety, friends, family, and laughter
but with a subtle boundary

or

the place,
that city I was seen off to when I was married,
Apparently, my new forever with my husband,
a new house, a new family, and new people

or

the place,
the rented apartment,
My husband and I began our married life
short lived marital bliss
in whatever little time we spent there

or

the place,
my maternal home, where the married me came back
along with my husband, kids
after the sudden, unexpected turn life took
the same house where I spent 24 years,
re-built new equations within the old ecosystem
raised too many eyebrows and curiosities

or

the place
I deeply long for
Where my heart, mind, and soul are alive,
Where my truth as an evolved, grown-up woman is accepted,
Where I am myself, with all my warts and craziness and unconventionality,
Where I am free,
Where I discover resonance in thoughts and emotions,
where I receive and give love, respect, and trust wholly,
where I am acknowledged and loved

That is what I want to call home
That is where I want to belong
